My Best Post Surgery Tool

Posted on November 14, 2018

I am constantly asked this question.  I mean – seriously this is asked at almost every support group – what is my best post-surgery tool?  Well – I have so many.  For this post I am going to talk about my love of Tupperware.

I am sitting in the Phoenix airport after my latest work trip.  On this trip I brought one of my favorite Tupperware.  I am sure many of you are asking – why is Tupperware so important.  Let me explain….

1)  Taking leftover from dinner order.

I am currently 3 + years post surgery.  I still am not a member of the “clean plate club”. And I am ok with that.   Has this happened to you?  You are eating out and you do not finish your plate.  The comment from the wait staff is “you did not like it?”.  Then begins the story of I enjoyed by meal but you gave me too much.  Honestly, I am tired of having to explain myself.  So instead – I always have Tupperware so that I can put the extras right at the beginning of the meal. This keeps me from overeating and having to answer the questions.

2) Portion control helper

The second reason I love having my Tupperware while traveling – the Tupperware I buy is literally the size of my sleeve.  If I put my meal into the Tupperware and eat from the Tupperware, I reduce the possibility of overeating.  YEAH – if I do not overeat that there is no risk of my immediate trip to the bathroom. It’s a win win.  And when the waiter asks – my response is this helps me with portion control.  Most people have very few comments after I tell them that is why I am eating out of a Tupperware.

I am sure I will post more tools but this is the first one I can think of.
